Born
in Uruguay in 1981, Gastón Arévalo is a multidisciplinary
artist focused on the exploration at sound and visual art, being a strong
presence in his work concepts like aislacionism, nature and experimentation.
Began learning traditional instruments at a very young age. He began to
incorporate other instruments and began to experiment with recordings and
ambient samples and decided to dedicate his time to experimenting with music
and computers.
In that frame the artist try to recreate ambients using field recordings,
translating landscapes into a digital environment in the form of music,
with an aesthetic interest in nature has one of the fundamental elements
of his inspiration.
His works, are based on organic rhythms, textures and melodies, mixed
with electric-acoustic collages and visual landscapes, his goal is to
create a profound and surrounding sound and atmosphere, exploring in terrains
relatives to minimalism, abstract and experimental techno influences too,
with an actually aproximation to the sound sculptures.
On the visual side, at the present he works with code sketches maded by himself trying to find the best frecuencies syncronization on the audiovisual pieces, that come alive on the performance impovistations, emulating algorithms and patterns.
Through the years he has been experimenting, always searching for where he feels most comfortable and a personal and intimate sound. He has participated at international relevant events and festivals showing and exhibiting his work, exploring in genres audiovisual instalations and editing his works in relevants international labels.
